Get Involved

Good news! There are lots of ways that you can be involved in LSC Journal Club depending on your time, location, and interests.

Join an In-person Discussion in Vancouver

LSC Journal club coordinators will schedule 6 in-person meetings in Vancouver for participants to get together and discuss the current article. At the meeting, a discussion leader will introduce the article and then lead the group through a thoughtful discussion that includes a critical evaluation of the article’s research methods, findings, and potential application in the library world. Snacks and drinks will be provided.  Please contact us to find out the upcoming location details. See what we’re reading next.

Be a Discussion Leader at an In-person Meeting

Discussion leaders will change for each meeting in order to give different group members a chance to hone their presentation and discussion facilitation skills. Discussion leaders are responsible for reading the featured article, preparing a short summary for the group along with an examination of the article’s research methods, strengths, and weaknesses, and designing some questions/prompts to help guide the group’s discussion.

If you are interested in leading a group discussion, please take a moment to look at the schedule of topics and let us know which date you are interested in by emailing us at lscjournalclub@gmail.com.

Host a Journal Club Outside of Vancouver

Not in Vancouver? Consider hosting your own face-to-face discussion in your community as well! It’s as simple as choosing a place and time, and sending out the article (or any article you’d like!) to library staff you think might be interested in participating. We’ve collected some resources to help you find research. If you start a club outside of Vancouver, please let us know so we can help you advertise!

Participate Online

There are many ways to join the discussion online! If you have a blog, you can share the article and write a post about what you learned or found most interesting. Please be sure to let us know of the blog post so we can share it widely. Tweet about the article using the hashtag #lscjournalclub.  Lindsey will lead occasional Twitter discussions about the articles at @lmkrabbenhoft.
